Arkade Media | November Edition

Hello, November is here! With the summer heat fading and the leaves changing colors, it's time to put on your company-branded Patagonia gear and enjoy some indoor gaming with those early sunsets at 4:30 PM.

Last month, we had a busy schedule with meetings, planning, code improvements, API testing, and more. This article will talk about some exciting things we've been teasing on social media and serve as an official announcement.

This time, we'll focus more on our internal developments and provide clarity where needed, instead of diving into specific ongoing updates mentioned last month.

We'll still mention the notable game releases for November, but there won't be a "game of the month" section this time. I didn't get a chance to try the games from the previous edition, but we have important tasks to work on right now!

Arkade | Internal November Updates

Last month, our main discussions were straightforward, focusing on what we referred to as the "3 P's." These "3 P's" stand for Priority, Principle, and Price Action. The upcoming updates we're introducing center around these concepts, and I think they will lay the foundation for a strong finish in Q4 and a great start to 2024.

Without further ado, here's what you can anticipate from us as we wrap up this year!

Let's address the big news without beating around the bush. In the coming months, the entire Arkade Marketplace is transitioning to Marmalade, and our goal is to wrap up this transition by 2024.

This decision follows more than a year of discussions with fellow builders, marketplaces, partners, and Kadena team members. We've been enthusiastic about the concept of Marmalade since the early web days when we eagerly subscribed to release announcements with multiple email addresses each.

We strongly believe that the ecosystem should operate on a unified standard so that projects don't have to choose between marketplaces. Each project should have the opportunity to achieve maximum visibility without being constrained to select "competitors."

We use the term "competitors" loosely because we believe that collaborating and working together is more powerful than working separately. There's room for everyone building a purposeful product at the top. While competition fosters excellent products, a healthy balance of cooperation accomplishes much more in the long run, allowing everyone to grow on the same page at their own pace.

We will keep you informed with open announcements regarding this transition, so you won't need to panic about downtime when it comes to buying, trading, or selling on our marketplace. While we can't provide an immediate timeline right now, we're aiming to complete this move before the new year, and we're eagerly looking forward to it.

No beating around the bush here, we made a mistake by not releasing a free version before a "paid" one. Looking back, we initially believed that direct on-chain gaming with a PvP-based instant payout option, along with on-chain interactions for a small fee, would benefit our Holders in both the short and long term. Regrettably, that didn't work out as planned.

Now, we recognize that people want to understand how a game works before investing their money. However, during our "founder" and development phase, we overlooked these small details, and we sincerely apologize for that. This month, we'll be introducing the option of a free version, and we couldn't be more thrilled to accompany it with a free weapon airdrop!

Furthermore, we're planning to test a turn-based notification system, environment timers, more randomization, and monthly free tournaments to help you earn and rank up your bear. Stay tuned for additional details, and keep an eye on our social channels (Discord, Telegram, and X) for updates.

We strongly believe in the future of interoperability, where the advantages surpass the drawbacks across various domains. Currently, we're exploring various cross-chain opportunities to showcase both the Kadena ecosystem and our comprehensive project.

Although our branding and initial focus revolve around gaming, Arkade encompasses a diverse range of products. From gaming and the marketplace to our AI-infused launchpad, we operate across multiple verticals. We're not limited to one sector and actively seek partnerships that align with our community and team.

While we hold a deep appreciation for the Ethereum network and its merits, the sustainability and scalability challenges it poses don't align with our company's identity. Our decisions are guided by synergy rather than solely financial considerations. We also strive for direct and core ecosystem support, which involves extensive meetings, research, and planning.

We firmly believe that the benefits of drawing more attention to our ecosystem and project far outweigh any potential drawbacks. Throughout our ongoing discussions, we'll ensure that everyone is kept well-informed at each step of the way.
